S&P 500 winning-streak ends

U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Monday, snapping the S&P 500’s eight-session winning streak, following mixed reports on the U.S. economy.

The S&P 500 slipped 2.78 points, or 0.2%, to 1,500.18, with materials the biggest weight among its 10 major sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 14.05 points, or 0.1%, to end at 13,881.93.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq gained 4.59 points, or 0.2%, to 3,154.30, as shares of technology-sector heavyweight Apple Inc. rose 2.3%.
